About Ylisa: Ylisa Young is a contemporary self-taught abstract artist whose studio is in sunny South Florida. Through various mentorships and self-exploration, she has developed a unique style using various materials from paints to cold wax to collage. Her art has a sense of gritty elegance that brings a unique style to her work. Ylisa has been influenced by a diverse group of artists. She cites Cy Twombly, Mark Bradford, and Sarah Grilo as recent artists who have inspired her recent work. She states that Cy Twombly’s biomorphic imagery; nonfigurative scribbles and markings resonate with her. Mark Bradford’s multilayered collage embraces a social conscience that strongly transformed her use of paper in her most recent works. Additionally, Sarah Grilo’s art with her free gestuality use of numeral and textual signs has a sense of urban graffiti which speaks to her vision. Ylisa’s paintings have been exhibited in multiple public spaces such as the Parkland Library, Coral Springs City Hall, and local medical centers. Her paintings have also been showcased in several galleries such as the Day Space in Ft Lauderdale, Boca Raton Museum’s Art School, and Coral Springs Museum of Art. Her dedication and passion have brought her success and recognition in the community and through her social media platforms and website, art collectors have purchased her work from around the country.
About Shahina: Shahina was born in India and moved to the United States in the 1970s. She found her passion for art at a young age, and while a pharmacist by trade, Shahina has managed to keep the artist in her alive over the years. Shahina is self-taught, which has enabled her to try new methods and develop her own style. She is best known for her work on large canvases. Painting gives Shahina a great sense of pleasure and soothes her mind. When she sees bare walls, she can hear them screaming for art. Her brush strokes are guided by her feelings at the moment, leading to some of the most inspiring and unique pieces of art. Shahina covers many different styles including abstract art, fluid art, and realistic art.
