NAMI Broward County will be holding a 5K Walk in Tradewinds Park, 3600 West Sample Road, Coconut Creek, on November 9, registration will start at 8:00, and the Walk  9:30 am.  This is our Seventh Annual NAMIWalks, “Walking for Mental Health”, benefiting NAMI Broward County an affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness.  Admission to Tradewinds Park will be free to every walker who arrives before 9:30 am. The Walk program features music, food, entertainment, a pet parade, a kid zone, fun and a community expo.  Families, children and well behaved pets are welcome. There is no fee to Walk.  Registration is required at www.NAMIWalks.org/BrowardCounty.  Everyone who raises $100 or more receives an event T-shirt.  Our Walk Ambassadors, Broward Sheriff Gregory Tony and Chief Public Defender Howard Finkelstein will be our featured speakers.  Other speakers include State Senator Lauren Book and State Representative Michael Gottlieb.

Proceeds from the event are channeled into NAMI Broward’s mission “to support, educate, and advocate until there is a cure for severe and persistent mental illness.” The organization provides crucial county-wide educational programs and support services for people with mental illness and their loved ones, and a HELP-LINE for anyone in need of mental health assistance.
