Moonlight Tales will be hosted by Dr. Caren S. Neile and will feature adult storytelling performances by Dr. Neile, Jon Spelman, Linda Schuyler Ford and music by Bachaco.

Three-time Emmy winner and veteran storyteller Jon Spelman toured Florida for 12 years, collecting and creating a treasure trove of the state’s folk tales and fables. His powerful imagination and sublime craftsmanship led the Washington Post to call him “a stunning wordsmith and a riveting performer.”

Both lighthearted and soul deep is what is said about Tallahassee-based storyteller Linda Schuyler Ford. Hailing from legendary Sleepy Hollow, New York, aka Ichabod Crane territory, Ford performs Washington Irving’s classic chiller with emotion, sophistication and meticulous detail.

Caren Neile has told stories on three continents in between teaching storytelling at Florida Atlantic University. She appears weekly on South Florida public radio and contributes a column on storytelling for the Florida Jewish Journal. Her newest book is Florida Lore, published by the History Press.

The musical entertainment will be presented by the award-winning, globe-trotting Miami band Bachaco. The band refers to itself as musical hot sauce, and you’ll soon see why. Come groove to the beat of their Afro-Caribbean roots rock, inspired by new and classic sounds of Bob Marley, Latin music and California reggae.
Admission to Moonlight Tales, which is presented by the Friends of Fort Lauderdale Libraries and Broward County Library, is free. Light refreshments will be on sale.
