The Broward College Rosemary Duffy Larson Gallery will launch Making Marks, the 40th annual student art exhibition, with an opening reception on Thursday, April 19 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. The exhibition will run through May 30, 2018.
This juried exhibition showcases the works of some of Broward College’s most talented art students. This is a unique opportunity for these emerging artists as they pursue careers in their field, allowing them the opportunity to display their work in a professional gallery environment.
This year’s juror is Tennille Shuster: illustrator, graphic designer, and Associate Professor of Art and Gallery Director at Nova Southeastern University. Shuster has received several awards, including the Florida Artists’ Book Prize. Her work has been published in numerous publications including American Craft and American Libraries magazines and For the Love of Letterpress (A&C Black Publishing). Shuster’s book art is internationally exhibited and resides in public and private collections including the Iraq National Library, Duke University’s Rare Book, Manuscript and Special Collections Library, the Jaffe Center for Book Arts, and the Bienes Museum of the Modern Book, among others. In addition to being an educator and book artist, Shuster also maintains an active freelance design practice for such clients as the National Retail Federation, Florida Theatre League, Broward County Libraries, Town of Palm Beach and City of Sunrise.
As per tradition, the most exemplary works will be awarded during the reception night. Our juror, Shuster, will be responsible for choosing the recipients of such awards. There will also be a People’s Choice Award chosen by the public (the voting will begin on April 19 and will stay open until April 25).
The Broward College Rosemary Duffy Larson Gallery is located in Building 6 on the A. Hugh Adams Central Campus at 3501 SW Davie Rd., Davie, FL. Entrance to the gallery is free and open to the public. Hours are Monday to Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with extended hours on Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., or by appointment.
