United Way of Broward County Commission on Substance Abuse (UWBCCSA) will present “Let’s Talk: The State of Mental Health Town Hall Meeting” on Friday, October 14th. UWBCCSA will introduce the Broward County community to its Mental Health Promotion Action Team and the team’s activities that are aimed at enhancing the capacity of Broward County residents to take control of their lives and health, promoting resiliency, decreasing suicide rates and eliminating the stigma associated with mental illness.
Panel discussion topics will address the risk factors associated with mental illness and suicide, barriers to recovery, suicide prevention awareness, eliminating the stigma associated with mental illness, and what organization leaders are doing to increase mental health promotion activities countywide. The Town Hall Meeting will end with an Audience Q&A Session.

Judge Ginger Lerner-Wren: Criminal Division, 17th Judicial Circuit, Broward County; She presides over the nation’s first mental health court.
