Both music and visual art stem from the same desire to discover and interpret the beauty of this world and its inhabitants. However, it is rather rare that composers would be explicitly inspired by particular works of art. This concert features two such special works: selections from Enrique Granados’s monumental Goyescas (based on paintings by Francisco Goya), and Modest Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition (inspired by paintings by Viktor Hartmann). Both of these works present a culmination of the Romantic Style and a unique pairing of visual and performing arts.
Award-winning, internationally acclaimed pianist Gustavo Romero is a frequent guest in our series. We are very fortunate to have him share his intimate art with us once again.
