His music is celebrated by: Take 6 (eight-time Grammy Award winners and inductees in the Gospel Music Hall of Fame); Clint Holmes (Emmy Award winner); Nnenna Freelon (five-time Grammy nominated vocalist); and Kirk Whalum (Grammy Award and two-time Stellar Award sinner). Charles transcended racism and cultural upheavals to spread his music based on gospel, blues, jazz and country around the world.
