ConFab: A One-Day Practicum on
How to Make Things Happen as an Artist
Saturday, November 18, 2017, noon – 8 pm
A day-long series of workshops and discussions that are designed to inspire innovative strategies for producing and presenting artistic works and projects. Topics covered will address how to access resources, collaborate, find your public, and re-boot and re-fresh one’s career. Speakers and workshop leaders include Deana Haggag, Executive Director of United States Artists; Austin Thomas, artist/cultural producer of Pocket Utopia in Newark, NJ and many more!
Schedule:
Noon – Welcome reception
1 pm – Interdisciplinary Pollinating Overlap (IPO): Speed Dating Style artist introductions
2:30 pm – Flip the Script: Talk and workshop with Austin Thomas using sketchbooks as tools and discussing new conversations and new methods for artists to be creative about presenting their work
to the public
5 pm – Stacking Hats: Panel Talk with Leah Brown and Ingrid Schindall discussing their experiences, challenges, pitfalls, and the rewards of creating and operating arts businesses in South Florida and beyond.
6:30 pm – Wine reception
7 pm – Deana Haggag talk + Q & A
