Led by conductor Stéphane Denève and featuring violist Nikolaj Znaider, the Brussels Philharmonic performs a program of classic and modern work that includes “Flammenschrift” by Guillame Connesson alongside the power of Beethoven and the passion of Prokofiev with Beethoven’s celebrated “Violin Concerto in D” and the romance and heart-rending melodies of Prokofiev’s “Suite from Romeo and Juliet.” Founded in 1935 by the Belgian public broadcaster NIR, the Brussels Philharmonic has performed with international top directors and soloists. As part of the 2018-19 Broward Center Classical Series, Broward Center Arts Ambassador Lyn Farmer offers an Engaging the Senses pre-concert talk and tasting one hour prior to the concert that is complimentary to ticket holders and offers a well-rounded perspective of the concert through visual art, architecture, literature and food and wine examples.
