The Broward County Waterway Cleanup, organized by the Marine Industries Association of South Florida, is the county’s largest and longest-running environmental event. The first Waterway Cleanup was held in the late 1970s to help ensure that both the community as a whole and the marine industry could enjoy our local waterways. In 2018, over 1,200 volunteers of all ages by land and over 100 boats worked at 31 locations across the county to remove over 32 tons of trash and debris from our waterways, rivers and canals. You do not need a boat to participate! Registration will open in late January at http://waterwaycleanup.org/find-a-site/.
