Event Type

HANDY (Helping Abused Neglected Disadvantaged Youth), an award-winning non-profit that provides life skills, education and a supportive community for Broward County children in foster and relative/nonrelative care announced that its 14th Annual Scholars Breakfast will take place on Friday, May 31 at 7:30 a.m., in the Crystal Ballroom at Pier Sixty-Six Hotel & Marina, located at 2301 SE 17 Street, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33316. This year’s ‘Believe in the Dream’ breakfast, presented by Breakthru Beverage and Pier Sixty-Six Hotel & Marina, will recognize HANDY’s 2019 Graduating Scholars, Champions of Children and Legacy Award winners.  In addition, this year’s event will recognize HANDY’s founding members without whose vision and commitment HANDY could not have become a reality.

A few notable award winners include:

  • Gregory Haile – President, Broward College
  • Cindy Arenberg-Seltzer – President/CEO of the Children’s Services of Broward County
  • Gale Butler – Executive Director at Friends of Birch State

The Scholars Breakfast will kick off with a “Breakfast for Dinner” reception on Wednesday, February 27, at Pier Sixty-Six Hotel & Marina. Guests attending the kickoff event will enjoy music, specialty cocktails, passed hors d’oeuvres, and extravagant breakfast stations.
