Riverwalk Fort Lauderdale hosted the SOLD OUT Riverwalk Burger Battle™ V presented by Publix Aprons Cooking School and Catering on Friday, May 23, 2014 under the stars along the Riverwalk at Huizenga Plaza. This sizzling event, emceed by Big 105.9‘s Doc Reno, pitted sixteen (16) top burger joints and restaurants against one another to show off their creative juices and grilling skills to over 1200 guests along the scenic New River. The Battle brings together South Florida burger aficionados for an evening of gourmet burger creations, cocktails, beers and fun, while raising funds to support the Riverwalk Fort Lauderdale’s mission of building and nurturing a vibrant community connected by the New River.
Who won the Trophy?
A team of restaurant industry judges awarded the custom Riverwalk Burger Battle™ trophy to this 2x contender, who placed 5th in 2013. 5 of the 6 Judges gave this contender a PERFECT SCORE.
For a second year in a row, Fans gave up their chips for some leis, drink umbrellas and a tasty burger that also rated highly with our Judges, earning them 2nd Place.

For our 5th year, we brought a new judging team together headed by two dynamic sisters who own and operate their own catering company and local cafe. We then added three award winning Chefs and a food industry CEO, whose team won back to back Fan Favorite Trophy’s at this very Battle. These six judges represent ten of South Florida’s best dining establishments.
Eight bragging men came to the battle and one was the winner. With a new twist to the slider eating contest – additional ingredients were added to the delicious Bokamper Sliders including onions, mushroom and Jalapeno Peppers! Only real contenders made the 3 minute limit! Riverwalk Fort Lauderdale thanks Bokamper’s Sports Bar & Grill for sponsoring the Slider Eating Contest which again shows what great community partners they are. Make it a point to go by and try their delicious burgers and other menu items.

The Color Run™ 5k with 8500 runners returned to Downtown Fort Lauderdale, FL on May 10th, 2014! Riverwalk Fort Lauderdale was proud to have been selected as the partner charity for The Color Run™ Fort Lauderdale. The Color Run™ 5k is a one of a kind experience that is less about speed and more about enjoying a color crazy day with your friends and family. It is about participants of all different speeds, ages, shapes, and sizes toeing the start line. Whether you are a casual morning mall walker or an Olympic athlete, the 3 miles of The Color Run™ course will be the most enjoyable real estate you’ve traveled in a VERY long time.
