35th Anniversary – Call to Artists

Riverwalk Fort Lauderdale celebrates its 35th anniversary in 2023, and to mark the occasion, Riverwalk invites artists to share their view of the Riverwalk.

Two-dimensional and three-dimensional artwork of all mediums are invited to participate in the competition, including but not limited to watercolor, oil, sculpture, photography, charcoal, mixed media, drawing and gouache. The winning artwork will grace the cover of a future issue of Go Riverwalk Magazine.

Artists, no matter where they live, are invited to submit their original artwork by Monday, October 2, 2023, to the Riverwalk Fort Lauderdale office at 888 E. Las Olas Blvd., Suite 201, Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33301. Office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

The artwork must depict Fort Lauderdale’s Riverwalk.

The competition will be judged by a local juried panel. The winner will be notified in October and will be required to be photographed and interviewed for a story in Go Riverwalk Magazine.

Each submission must have attached to the artwork:

  • Title of artwork
  • Full name of artist
  • Address of artist (street address, city, state, ZIP code)
  • Email address
  • Daytime/cell phone number

“Riverwalk has celebrated notable anniversaries in the past by asking artists to share their depictions of Riverwalk,” says Genia Duncan Ellis, President/CEO of Riverwalk Fort Lauderdale. “We want to help celebrate our organization’s 35th anniversary in a similar way this year.”

“Through the growing success of the Seminole Hard Rock Winterfest Boat Parade and her personal contributions of time and leadership to both civic and charitable organizations, Lisa Scott-Founds has ensured that Fort Lauderdale is known as a great city, and by extension, our Riverwalk and Downtown have been showcased,” said Courtney Callahan Crush, chairman of the Riverwalk Fort Lauderdale board of directors. “She leads by example and we are most fortunate to be able to honor her at our 14th Annual Riverwalk Tribute.”

Anniversary LogoGenia Duncan Ellis, President and CEO of Riverwalk Fort Lauderdale, added: “Lisa’s contributions to the Riverwalk District and to Downtown Fort Lauderdale span the past two decades and her commitment to the City is demonstrated through her tireless advocacy and leadership on behalf of the Winterfest Boat Parade, as well as her involvement in numerous civic and charitable organizations. Lisa’s passion for our City and its betterment is unparalleled and we are a better City for her involvement.”

Lisa Scott-Founds began her career with Winterfest in 1995 as their Corporate and Community Relations Manager. She was named Executive Director in April, 1996. Her love of Winterfest was nurtured by childhood parade memories with her family and by volunteering after her college years. As a Fort Lauderdale native, Lisa’s holiday connection with Winterfest catapulted her desire to produce this South Florida tradition. Under her direction, Winterfest has grown into an internationally recognized event, which has earned the title “The World’s Most Watched Boat Parade.”
