Join us as we explore the history of Fort Lauderdale before the Stranahan’s arrival. Frank Stranahan is regarded as the first permanent settler of modern Fort Lauderdale, but people have been living in the area for thousands of years. Stranahan House Education and Curatorial coordinator, Jonathan Axler, will share the stories of the people, places, and events that shaped early Fort Lauderdale and how it led to the Fort Lauderdale that Frank would find when he arrived in 1893.

History Happy Hours are the Historic Stranahan House Museum’s monthly education program for the community. These programs explore topics in greater detail as they relate to the Stranahan family, the historic site, South Florida, and the Seminole Tribe of Florida. Programs are currently all held virtually via Zoom. Advanced registration is required to receive log-in access. For more information on this great program and all our educational offerings, please contact Jonathan Axler, Programs and Education Coordinator at education@stranahanhouse.org or 954-524-4736.
