Event Type

The 10 Days of Connection, recognized May 1-10, 2019, is an annual community led challenge to inspire people from different backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives to collectively make a difference. Join the City of Fort Lauderdale, Broward County Library, Museum of Discovery and Science, and other local partners for an innovative lunch and walking tour highlighting the importance of early literacy programs for Pre-K to third grade children.

Event Highlights:

11 am – Session 1: Fort Lauderdale City Hall | 100 N Andrews Avenue
Remarks from Fort Lauderdale Mayor Dean J. Trantalis and Zoie Saunders, Chief Education Officer; a live painting demonstration by local artist and City employee Amaris “Ami” Rosario; Little Free Library display; and small bites provided by Temple Street Eatery.

11:40 am – Session 2: Broward County Library | 100 S Andrews Avenue
Walk from City Hall to the Broward County Library where library officials will showcase efforts to promote reading. Local author Gabriela Esquivel will read her book, sing a song, and encourage participatory reading. Light snacks provided by Spatch.

12:20 pm – Session 3: Museum of Discovery and Science | 401 SW 2nd Street
Walk from the library to the Museum of Discovery and Science to learn about interactive educational opportunities and enjoy light refreshments from Press and Grind.

This is a progressive lunch and walk. Cool, comfortable clothing and shoes are recommended.
