The author of “Rights” presents the story of Jacob Gold, a closeted gay man, from a strict, orthodox Jewish family, who works for his homophobic father, a New York City jeweler. Jacob regularly frequents a gay video store, where he witnesses a brutal murder. His dilemma: help the police find the killer, which would reveal his secret life and upend his family relationships, or stay quiet, letting the killer remain on the loose. Complicating matters is his growing attachment to the detective who is trying to solve the murder.
